Meetings with Julie

There are meetings with me once a week for the first 6 to 12 weeks, depending on your package. The amount of time one is required to meet with me varies. For example, if you chose the 1 Full Year package, you will come in once a week for the first 6 weeks, then twice a month for the next 5 and 1/2 months, then once a month for the rest of the year. This allows us time to check in and see how everything is going. I believe these meetings play a vital role in your success during this crucial time. I will assess your progress, check the food diary, calorie intake, supplement use, gym time, evaluate the mind-body component, etc…I want to know everything so that I can best serve you in achieving and maintaining your goals!

Personal training sessions

Exercise is important for just about everyone, especially individuals attempting to lose weight. Unfortunately for many people, extra weight or not, they feel they do not have time to work out, or they are fearful of venturing into a gym that is uncharted territory for them. Most of us are not born with the innate knowledge of how to use a treadmill, turn on the elliptical, or use the weight machines. In addition, some people do not have the necessary motivation to get to the gym and stay there and work as hard as necessary to make a difference. The personal training sessions provide a gym buddy that will educate you on all you need to know about working out, they will hold you accountable for showing up and working hard, and cheer you on as you accomplish your goals. Also, the personal trainer is there to monitor your weight loss both in pounds, inches, and body fat percentage. He or she will be in constant communication with me, so that I am always in the know of how the training sessions are going, what is working and what is not, and the awesome success I know you will achieve. In this program, whichever package you choose, you will be meeting with a trainer for 3 sessions a week, one hour per session. The sessions will be individualized to suit your needs and will meet you where you are currently, so that you can get to where you want to be!

Shopping with Julie

Shopping with Julie is probably one of the most important things you will do in this program. A trip to different grocery stores is scheduled right away in order to get you eating healthy ASAP! We believe in the power of hands-on educational tools. So, as part of the program we go to the grocery store that you always shop at, and help you navigate the store and all the food in a healthy way. We show you what to buy and what to never even pick up and teach you why. We also teach you how to read labels, especially the ingredients portion. Since standard-American grocery stores are deficient in a bulk sections, healthy variety, and lots of organic selection, we will then go to other grocery stores like Whole Foods, Rainbow Blossom, Amazing Grace, etc to show you how to shop healthy without going broke. Understanding food is vital to achieving life-long health and wellness. We do not promote one store over another; rather, we teach you how to shop healthy wherever you go.

Cooking Classes

Knowing healthy foods to purchase is a great first step, but let’s not stop there. In our program you will be a part of a personalized cooking class where we will teach you what to do with the new foods that now sit in your refrigerator and adorn your pantry shelves. It is great to have all the right foods, so let’s know what to do with them!

Support group and journaling

A group of patients in the program, no matter which part of the program or where they are in the program meet once a month to share their successes, stories, thoughts, feeling, etc with others that are going through similar things. In addition, such a group will allow people to join with others who are ahead of them in their weight loss and those that are behind them. They will have opportunities to be mentors and mentees, and most of all it will provide a new circle of friends that will provide extra support. There is a sign-up sheet at the front desk where patients can sign-up to be a part of a group. The group is run by you, in the classroom, for the first 30 minutes, and then the group will get outside and walk and talk (weather permitting). These groups are great because it allows you to connect to other fabulous people that are on a similar journey. From this group, you will find people to confide in, work out with, and be there for support.

The journaling is how the patient will keep track of their thoughts and feelings throughout their time in the program and hopefully throughout their life. This will allow the patient a place to look back and see how far they have come as well as jot down goals for the future they wish to achieve. We have put together special journals for each patient that will be given at the start of whichever program is chosen.

Both the support group and journaling give the patient a safe place to vent, celebrate, and record their thoughts as they venture through the program, working toward optimal wellness and life-long health.


Detox and Restock: Cleaning out your refrigerator and food closet *

Sometimes the hardest part is throwing out the bad and replacing it with the good. Detox and Restock is a fun time when I get to come to your house and Detox or clean out your refrigerator and food pantry. I prefer this to be a family event (if there is family in the house) so that everyone is involved with getting rid of the food that is making you unhealthy. This is a time to educate other family members so they understand the importance of eating nutritionally balanced foods and committing to healthy life-style changes. The more people in your family that are on board with you, the more successful you will be with achieving your goals. Not to mention, you are spreading health and wellness to the people you care about most!

*This part of the program is only included in the 6 month and 1 year package, but don’t fret, if you chose or are directed to do the 6 week or 12 week program, you can always add this event on to your package.

Overall purpose of this program

The overall purpose is to help people take health into their own hands, to be advocates for healthy foods and lifestyle choices, and to spread health to a fast-food society. This program is a stepping stone put in place in order to help individuals achieve life-long health. We do not promote dieting; we promote healthy living, and taking smart steps toward a healthier, more vibrant, younger, life-loving YOU! It is through our program that patients will achieve their weight loss goals, take back their health, love how they look naked (with the lights on), while learning how to be a real-foods snob, life-long health nuts, and live a life that screams health and wellness!
